We are excited to have Dr. Buff Dave Patterson blogging his preparations from now until he steps on stage at the Ironman October 3rd. You can read details of his diet and food, training, posing, mental state and all the other stuff that goes along with entering and competing in a show.
A bit about Dave. He has been training and teaching personal training and competing for over 25 years. His show history is as follows:
First show –1984 – sucked...11th out of 22 – Oregon Novice BB Champ.
2nd show – 1985 – still sucked...4th – Oregon Novice BB Champ.
3rd show – 1987 – finally cracked top 3 (3rd) - Olympic Peninsula BB Champ.
Didn’t compete again until 1994 or 95 due to school – Bachelors & Masters in Physical Education from PLU (1992 – BAPE; 1994 – MPE)
1st contest won – 1995 – Oregon show – don’t remember which one...
I’ve competed in over 125 contests in the past 25 years. Last count – over 125 trophies including class, age group, couples, overalls, team, Most Inspirational, & Best Poser. I’ve won every show I’ve competed in at least once (finally won my class at the Emerald Cup last year...yaaaaay!!).
