| D-Day 16 Weeks - Let's GO! |

|
I've known all along that my pre-contest eating-to-win plan (I hate the word "diet") would begin - for me - 16 weeks out from the Emerald Cup. I've been mentally preparing throughout the month of December, the plan is in place and cupboards stocked with key ingredients. And today we begin. I've been researching past winners of this fairly new Physique division and must say, Jennie Verdi, has an amazing look ~ attainable but dialed in and on top of her game! That's motivating. To be competing in the 30th Annual Emerald Cup feels extra-special - just to be a part of something so respected, successful and long-standing. That's motivating. I haven't stepped on stage since 2007 - five years. I've trained fairly consistently since that time but honestly not as someone 'expecting' to compete again at 42. I train because it's a huge part of my life. Now I'm excited to see what I look like in top shape five years later. That's motivating. I know what I need to do to step on stage in top form on April 21st. It's not rocket science but it's discipline, consistency and hunger - literally and figuratively! ;) For me it boils down to being prepared. Being prepared with my food. Prepared with my workouts. Prepared to display my physique to the best of my ability during posing.
You know what they say ~ luck is preparation meeting opportunity. 16 weeks... smilin' and playing to win!

| Tick Tock, Tick Tock... Time's a Tickin' ~ Approaching the Five-Month Mark |
| 11.13.2011 11:32:13 | |
|
The past month has evaporated literally right before my eyes. If this is any indication of the next five months, I'd better get real creative with my time management 'cause ever second will need to count.
My number one focus in the past month has still been on competing but of a slightly different kind. You see, I'm currently campaigning to be elected as a town Councillor in Gibsons where I live on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. It's been an extremely interesting process. The municipal election is next Saturday, November 19th. I LOVE being multi-faceted! And I love striving to be a leader in many areas of my life. Needless to say, when people tell me they don't 'have time' for their training or eating right, I don't have much sympathy. No one 'has time'. You 'make time'. I've been pretty proud to get consistent workouts in. They have actually really helped to keep me grounded, focused and positive. My eating could have been a bit more dialed in - even for off-season - but all in all not bad.
I'm looking forward to going hard in December - a month when most people slack off with Christmas parties and too many sweets, I'm planning to train my AS_ off. Literally! Promising you a blog post during the holiday season to make good on this goal. Current Split: Monday - Back, Tuesday - Shoulders, Wednesday - Legs, Thursday - Off, Friday - Arms & Abs, Saturday - Chest, Sunday - Cardio only. In December I'll be starting twice/day workouts at least two days per week. Cardio: Not killing myself with cardio right now - want to have somewhere to go with it. Take care, train hard, and please keep in touch! | 7 Months Out: The Journey Begins... The Process of Proactively of Creating Positive Change |
| 09.19.2011 20:43:24 | |
|
It's interesting to say "The Journey Begins", because a fitness lifestyle never really begins or ends. It's a lifestyle. However, when you commit to doing a show, a certain amount of focus comes into play that may not be there on a daily basis. For me, setting a D-Date - a deadline - is crucial. It's one thing to set a general goal. But it's a totally different thing to set a specific goal with a deadline attached and then hook at REWARD onto the end of that deadline. I talk about this in my latest Monday Morning MOJO which you might be interested to watch. One of the things that I love about competing (or any crazy audacious goal!) is The Process. I call it The Process of Creating Positive Change. Step 1: Self-Assessment - This is where I'm at now, my starting point. Be real, be honest, be objective. Step 2: Know Your Destination - This is where I want to go, the contest date. This is where you want to arrive at, how far you've got to go and how long you've got to get there. Step 3: Chart Your Course - This is your strategy - your game plan of doable action steps that will take you from A to B. It's the mental prep before the physical prep begins. Step 4: Pack Your Tool Kit - Your toolkit is comprised of a team of people and the tools you need to get you there. It might include a coach, mentor, workout partner, routine and posing expert, and heaps of understanding. This is your support system - everything you need to succeed - motivation, accountability, expertise, and help. Step 5: Get to Work - This is the accountable action. The proof is in the pudding, and now it's time to get to work. You want to give yourself enough time but not so much time that you lose interest, intensity or focus. Step 6: Cross the Finish Line and Celebrate - This is the WIN and the Celebration! Acknowledging your victory from meeting your goal and fully appreciating how much you've grown through The Process..
Between now and the end of September I'm completing on own personal Self-Assessment. It started last week when I got a few 'Before' shots taken. It's been almost five years since I've done any posing so that became apparent real quick. I'm pleased with the progress that I'm making on my legs and will be working hard to bring up my shoulders and back. I've got about 20 pounds to lose all-in before I step on stage. That's not the part I'm concerned with at all. I always tell clients: Taking off the fat is 'easy' (okay, well not easy but straight-forward if you do the work), it's the SHAPE underneath that you really have to work on! I know my Destination. It's to step on stage on April 21st, 2012 in my best-ever shape at the age of 42. I've got seven months to prepare... and to enjoy The Process. I'm looking forward to seeing 'The Growth' that is just around the corner! Thanks for joining me!

| All The Way |

Hi! My name is Charlene SanJenko - my friends call me "Char". I'm thrilled to be the newest Blogger in the Craig Productions Blogging 'Family' and will be tracking my journey over the next eight months up to and including the Emerald Cup on April 21st.
I'll be 42 on September 5th, and even though I've competed in both bodybuilding in the past, I haven't stepped on stage in over five years. I couple things have motivated me to do the Emerald Cup:
I'm entitling my blog posts "All The Way" because that is what competing is all about, a journey that takes you all the way and pushes you to your very best - physically, mentally and spiritually. I believe we'll never know the expansiveness of our potential if we don't push ourselves to the outer limits from time to time. The time commitment, consistency, discipline and focus required to complete this journey gives a competitor the confidence to carry these traits through to other areas of life and excel in those areas as well. I have a saying in my business, Create Your Body, Create Your Life. They go hand-in-hand. I believe that the very same principles, strategies and steps that you work through and apply to get what you want physically can be applied most successfully to other personal and professional goals. I will give you examples of this occurring with my progress over the next 8 months. Support is huge for an undertaking such as this as is accountability. I'm fortunate to have an ample supply of both. Early September I will post a photo of my starting physique, comment on both my challenges as well as my natural gifts. I'm aware of what needs works and what will come abit easier. I'll outline my basic gameplan for you for my pre pre-contest prep and what my focus will be for September through December as I prepare myself for pre-contest January through April. And, here we go! Ready to go... All the way! Charlene "Char" SanJenko Fitness Expert & Online Success Coach Visit me at sleekandsexysuccess.com

As I work my way towards the Emerald Cup - and yes, there will be a whole lotta work - I'll be commenting on and thinking about the process. You've heard the saying, "Enjoy the journey not just the destination", to me this means that committing to a crazy audacious goal provides you a huge opportunity for growth (pardon the pun!) - whether that's for your body, your business or your life. The actual destination or goal is simply the DESSERT! It's a bonus or added benefit once you get there. Oh boy, I'm making dessert analogies already. You're in trouble.
